Adoption Corner

I will take in or help re-home any unwanted reptiles and amphibians. If I can't keep what you have I have friends in the reptile world who will take them. I currently have a waiting list of qualified and approved homes looking to adopt many types of reptiles and amphibians.

In The Gecko is currently looking for several different types of species of turtles, tortoises and other amphibians for an educational program. Please contact us if you have anything you can offer.

Our Rescues

This is Ziggy, a seven year old almost four foot Green Iguana. Ziggy was well taken care of however the owner did not want him anymore and told the people that were watching him to just let him go. In The Gecko was contacted and I immediately took him in. Ziggy is the most docile calm iguana I have ever seen. Doesn't mind being handled and loves to eat. I kept Ziggy for about two months to make sure that he was in perfect health. Ziggy has found a new home with another local reptile rescue who will use him for shows. I know that Ziggy is in great hands and I won't have to worry about him going to another home were he will be mis-treated. Below is a picture of me and Ziggy in the back yard. He loved sitting in the grass and soaking up the natural sunlight.

This is Rambo, a four year old male Bearded Dragon. In The Gecko, received Rambo from an owner who was moving and could not keep him. Rambo is in great health however was kept in a pretty small tank, which might have stunted his growth a bit as he is quite short for his age. Adopted out 2007

This female Leopard Gecko, who I have not named yet was received by In The Gecko in very poor condition. She is about three to four years old. She was very skinny and had some shedding problems due to lack of humidity and a moist hide. After a few warm soaks and lots of feedings, she has bounced right back. Although she is still a bit skinny she is eating regularly. HAS BEEN ADOPTED OUT -  THANK YOU

This is Stubby, aka Stubbs, he was named by my kids because of his re-grown tail. It's short and fat. Stubbs is not a rescue, but was aquired in a trade. I put his picture on here to show you what a re-grown tail can look like. Plus he's an awesome looking male Leopard Gecko.

These two female Red Ear Sliders came to us a in June 07. They are now permanent residents of In the Gecko. I would like to thank Hailey for the large donation of equipment and food.

This is Shadow, a male Uromastyx - Mali. The former owner was unable to care for him anymore due to moving out. Adopted in 2007
